Gedae www.gedae.com
Gedae Logo

Gedae, the technology, was begun in 1987; Gedae, the product, was fi rst sold commercially in 1997; Gedae, the company, was incorporated in Dec. 2000. The founder, William Lundgren, purchased the technology from Lockheed Martin in 2000. The company is fully and privately held by four stockholders – William Lundgren, Amy Lundgren, Kerry Barnes and James Steed. All four are principals in the company, and there is their intention that Gedae, Inc. will continue and grow for many years Gedae, Inc. was formed for the purpose of commercializing Gedae.

The product required additional investment to complete the technical foundation, but Lockheed Martin was reluctant to continue developing the product due to their inability to sell a technical tool directly to competitors. Our business plan was to maintain a modest user base that would generate enough revenue to keep the company profi table during the completion of the technical foundation. This approach allowed the company to successfully deploy sufficient applications to retire the technical risks associated with using such a revolutionary capability. The plan has been successful, and applications have been deployed including real-time applications with tight latency requirements and very large applications with many modes of operation.

While the product will continue to evolve as we aggressively tackle emerging technologies such as FPGA’s and Multicore processors, these new developments will be built atop a foundation for which the technical risks are minimal. Going forward, we plan to focus our efforts on improving the ease of use and fi rst use impression of Gedae. Our market analysis indicates that this plan will lead to growth on three levels – expansion of use with existing customers, increased use in research and systems engineering organizations and increased demand for runtime licenses as organizations transition the technologies developed in Gedae into deployed systems.

Addressing these issues will also help us penetrate the university market. Queens University in Great Britain will use Gedae in a course on embedded signal and data processing, and a book using Gedae examples will be written for the course.
