2005 Conference

2nd Annual Technical Conference

About the EMRS DTC 2nd Annual Technical Conference:

The EMRS DTC will hold an annual, unclassified technical conference at which the work of the DTC will be disseminated.

The 2nd Annual Technical Conference will be held at the
Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) on 16th-17th June 2005.

Edinburgh International Conference Centre

This open event will form the DTC's main channel for dissemination of unclassified research output.

The conference is organised into two parallel sessions, held over 2 days:

RF Systems, Embedded Processing, Devices and Materials; and,

Electro-Optic Systems, Embedded Processing and Devices.

The two parallel sessions will be held in the Lomond Suite of the EICC. The session on RF Systems, Embedded Processing, Devices and Materials will be held in the Kilsyth and Moorfoot rooms of the Lomond Suite. The Electro-Optic Systems, Embedded Processing and Devices session will be held in the Tinto room.

Lomond Suite

Each session will be chaired by the Research Theme Leaders of the EMRS DTC and DSTL Knowledge Integrators.

Session A: RF Systems, Embedded Processing, Devices and Materials

Mr Tony Kinghorn (Selex Sensors and Airborne Systems)

Dr Iain Anderson (DSTL)

Mr Bryan Rickett (Roke Manor Research Ltd)
Dr. David Bruce (DSTL)

Session B: EO Systems Embedded Processing and Devices

Mr Stuart Duncan (Selex Sensors and Airborne Systems)

Mr Stephen McGeoch (Thales Optronics)

Dr. Phil Soan (DSTL)
Dr. Tom McCutcheon (DSTL)

Delegates will be free to move between conference sessions to choose the presentations that interest them most. Although there will be set times in the conference agenda for a morning and afternoon break, a constant supply of tea and coffee will be available in the Strathblane Hall.

On the first morning delegate registration will be open between 8am and 8:50am. We aim to start promptly at 8:50am - so please arrive in good time.

Within the conference there are several presentations from PhD students - and there will be a competition for best PhD student paper with a prize giving at lunchtime on Friday 17th June 2004 in the Strathblane Hall (EICC).

Conference Papers will be available to delegates in the form of Conference Proceedings and electronic copies of presentations will also be available on CD-ROM.

Who Should Attend?

The EMRS DTC Annual Conference should be attended by:

Potential exploiters of EMRS DTC funded research.

Potential providers of research to the EMRS DTC programme.

Members of the broad military and civil Electro-Magnetic Remote Sensing community of interest, including it's underlying key technologies, systems and sub-systems.

On the evening of Thursday 16th June 2004 a reception will be held for conference delegates in the Strathblane Hall of the EICC. This will afford delegates the opportunity to network with the broad community of interest that the DTC has brought together.

At the end of the conference sessions on Thursday evening the conference centre will be cleared. The reception will start at 4:40pm, giving delegates sufficient time to return to their hotels to deposit conference materials, change and return to the conference centre.

Dress code for the reception will be 'busness wear'. We hope that all delegates will be able to join us.
